In celebration of the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands\u2019 30th anniversary. Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Resort Saipan, Mariana Resort & Spa, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan will donate a portion of their proceeds from the Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden this month to charitable organizations in the community. In celebration of its 30th anniversary this year, the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands has announced it will donate a portion of its proceeds from the Taste of the Marianas to charitable organizations over the next five weeks.\u00a0 Participating hotels are Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Resort Saipan, Mariana Resort & Spa, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan.<\/p>\n

\u201cHANMI appreciates the opportunity to co-sponsor the Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden each year with the Marianas Visitors Authority and highlight the culinary repertoire of our hotels for the community,\u201d said HANMI chair Gloria Cavanagh. \u201cIn celebration of our 30th anniversary this year and in line with our anniversary theme of \u2018Building a Stronger Commonwealth with You,\u2019 some of our hotel members will also be donating a portion of their proceeds from each week to a charitable organization in the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the first night of the festival on May 2, 2015, will go toward the spay\/neuter program being organized by the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office in cooperation with the Humane Society International for later this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe share the goal of our community in advocating for responsible pet ownership and minimizing our stray dog population.\u00a0 It\u2019s good for the community, and it\u2019s good for tourism,\u201d said Cavanagh. \u201cHANMI has donated to PAWS in the past, and we feel that supporting the spay and neuter clinic is another step in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the monetary donation from Taste of the Marianas proceeds, a number of HANMI member hotels have made in-kind donations of supplies to the clinic.<\/p>\n

HANMI was established in 1985 as a professional forum for the hospitality industry of the NMI. Today the association is composed of 11 of the major hotels in the Northern Marianas serving a diversity of markets including Korea, Japan, China, and Russia. The association also has a growing number of associate members in related industries.<\/p>\n

HANMI members account for most of the hotel rooms in the Northern Marianas. Last year, HANMI members contributed $13.2 million in hotel occupancy tax to government coffers, as well as $4.4 million in gross revenue receipts. The hotel industry is the largest private employer in the CNMI, with HANMI members currently employing about 1,600 employees.
