Apatang and dog control program manager Spencer Marchadesch.

During a budget hearing yesterday on Capital Hill, Marchadesch said, “This is a big chance for Saipan. Right now we’re having requests, having reservations, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this.”

Apatang urged lawmakers to spread the word and to take advantage of the Saipan Mayor’s Office’s spay/neuter services that will be offered from May 18 to May 30.

It will take place at the dog kennel in Lower Base and in Kagman.

The mayor’s office is collaborating with the Humane Society International and Animal Balance on the clinics.

This program is intended to control the growing population of stray dogs on island.
