Best Sunshine International, Ltd. is looking to interview 400 applicants this week and has already hired about 100 employees.<\/p>\n
Currently, 30 of the hired are local residents, BSI executives told the Commonwealth Casino Commission in a public meeting last week.<\/p>\n
When asked by the regulators, BSI executives said they have yet to determine how many of the expected 400 applicant interviews are CW visa holders or how many are locals.<\/p>\n
BSI officials also disclosed that at the end of the interview process, some 600 positions are expected to be filled.<\/p>\n
BSI earlier said it is eyeing to hire 500 trainees for the temporary live training facility and it is prioritizing locals for the job openings.<\/p>\n
The officials, led by Matthew Harkness, BSI chief operating officer, told regulators that the training for the casino employees will be held at the fourth floor of Bank of Guam, which is adjacent to the T Galleria where the temporary live training facility will be established.<\/p>\n
Harkness also told regulators that BSI is hiring people as trainees \u201cway prior to the opening of the facility.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that trainees will be \u201ceased\u201d to the gaming floor and will initially handle low stakes games.<\/p>\n
The BSI training school will open in \u201ca few weeks,\u201d the executive said, although the company still needs equipment.<\/p>\n
Any training will also be open to the regulators, he said.<\/p>\n
It was earlier learned that many of the local residents applying for jobs at BSI prefer to land hotel jobs instead of casino-related positions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are not having any problems with the hiring, and I wish we had more. A lot of people are coming into the office asking about hotel jobs,\u201d Mark A. Brown, chief executive officer of BSI, earlier said.<\/p>\n
He said a majority of the applicants are seeking hotel-related jobs.<\/p>\n
