Green Meadow School celebrated the \u201cseeds\u201d of the future\u2014their students\u2014at their 13th Annual Recognition Program at the Charley\u2019s Cabaret at Pacific Islands Club Saipan yesterday.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, originally set at another avenue, was held at PIC due to the recent Typhoon Dolphin.<\/p>\n

A crowd still turned up, though, made of parents and family eager to take photos of their little ones.

The ceremony awarded the school\u2019s Kindergarten to fifth grade students with certificates, medals, or trophies for skills they\u2019ve improved in or bested at in the school year.<\/p>\n

School principal Milagros Songcuan recognized her student\u2019s achievements in her opening remarks and highlighted their mission \u201cto plant for eternity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you plant for today, plant a flower. If you plant for years to come, plant trees [but] if you plant for eternity, plant people,\u201d she said, referring to her students.<\/p>\n

Tan Holdings senior vice president Eli Arago, who was the inspirational speaker yesterday, echoed Songcuan when he emphasized the \u201cseeds of knowledge that will ignite desire to discover more.\u201d<\/p>\n

This will lead to the pursuit to succeed in life, he told the students.<\/p>\n

Arago reminded students that he and their parents had much harder obstacles while growing up in the Philippines. He said he had to walk five kilometers in the morning and afternoon to and from school.<\/p>\n

He also noted that some began their education at 7 years old after spending their previous years helping their family.<\/p>\n

But today\u2019s students can start their education as early as 3 years old, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEducation is the best weapon in the battlefield of life,\u201d he said. \u201cI hope you study hard because your parents worked hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Green Meadow School is a preparatory school on island with campuses at Gualo Rai and Chalan Kiya.<\/p>\n

Yesterday\u2019s theme was from author Robert Louis Stevenson: \u201cDon\u2019t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
