(Jon Perez)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mike Cruz, who co-operates the arena with Nick Sablan, presented a check worth more than $3,000 to PSF president and former Saipan Rep. Christopher Leon Guerrero yesterday in a simple ceremony held at the Gentle Brook Caf\u00e9 &#038; Restaurant at the Marianas Business Plaza.<\/p>\n<p>Pate Liwag accompanied Cruz during the donation presentation, while PSF secretary\/treasurer Querlane Blas, staff Baybie Hocog, and Public Safety Awareness Month chairman Patrick Arriola were also present to receive the check.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz, who is also a board director of the FilTaga Golf Association, said the donation is the local cockfighting group\u2019s way of giving back to the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe held a 4-cock derby with 45 entries. We get 35 percent of the total proceeds and that is what we gave to PSF. This is the local cockfighting group\u2019s way of helping foundations that promotes public safety,\u201d added Cruz.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Guerrero thanked Cruz and the cockfighting group for the donation, adding that the money would help PSF with its various activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPSF just celebrated its first year. It was established to assist the Department of Public Safety with various projects due to budget constraints.
