{"id":202498,"date":"2015-05-25T06:00:10","date_gmt":"2015-05-24T20:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=202498"},"modified":"2015-05-25T06:00:10","modified_gmt":"2015-05-24T20:00:10","slug":"farm-service-agency-to-meet-with-nmi-farmers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/farm-service-agency-to-meet-with-nmi-farmers\/","title":{"rendered":"Farm Service Agency to meet with NMI farmers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HONOLULU, Hawaii\u2014The USDA Farm Service Agency invites all commercial farmers to attend an informational meeting to learn about how they can protect their financial investment in their farm through the Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, commonly known as NAP. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 10am at the Kagman Agriculture Station.<\/p>\n<p>Farm Service Agency County executive director Tom Camacho said, \u201cTyphoon Dolphin serves as another important reminder of the power of nature to devastate a farmer\u2019s livelihood, but there are ways to reduce business risks. Steps include treating the farm like a business; maintaining production records; and signing up for risk management programs such as NAP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At this information meeting farmers will learn the basics of the NAP program, what is required and the upcoming deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>The 2014 Farm Bill authorized the waiver of basic NAP fees for historically underserved minorities, limited resource and beginning producers.
