The Northern Marianas College has been urged to look at board policies ahead of a 2017 evaluation by their accreditation commission.<\/p>\n
Director of Distance Learning Amanda Allen updated the board on the college\u2019s work in meeting accreditation standards. One of these steps would be a 2017 evaluation of the college governing board\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n
To this, regent William Torres suggested that they reactivate the board\u2019s ad-hoc committee on accreditation.<\/p>\n
This would allow the \u201cboard to report on itself,\u201d he said. So NMC can \u201canswer those questions\u201d set by the accrediting commission, the WASC Senior College and University Commission.<\/p>\n
It was decided that regents Torres, Frank Rabauliman, and Elizabeth Rechebai, with the help of Allen, would comprise this ad-hoc.<\/p>\n
Board chair Juan T. Lizama agreed with the \u201cneed to create an ad-hoc\u201d to \u201cfollow through on concerns\u201d from the commission.<\/p>\n
College president Dr. Sharon Hart also told the board that WASC Senior expects a report on college\u2019s completion rate.<\/p>\n
This report would go \u201csix years back\u201d starting this July, she said.<\/p>\n
Hart noted this was a \u201cnational\u201d push, adding that there has been a \u201cmajor [Department of Education] emphasis on completion.\u201d<\/p>\n
The report would also detail, \u201cwhat classes have been passed\u201d by students and \u201cwhat\u2019s not\u201d been passed, she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
