{"id":202602,"date":"2015-05-26T06:00:42","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T20:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=202602"},"modified":"2015-05-26T06:00:42","modified_gmt":"2015-05-25T20:00:42","slug":"welding-defects-on-tank-102-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/welding-defects-on-tank-102-project\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Welding defects\u2019 on Tank 102 project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some welding defects have been detected on the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.\u2019s Tank 102 project.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking before the utilities board at a recent meeting, CUC counsel James Sirok said that X-rays taken indicated weld defects on the tank floor.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sirok, they worked with the project\u2019s construction manager, Gilbane Federal, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the X-rays revealed a \u201cnumber of defects,\u201d and EPA would provide the certificate for the welders who would work on this issue.<\/p>\n<p>Last December, Gilbane Federal was selected by the U.S. District Court to expeditiously complete some CUC projects ordered by a 2009 stipulated order.<\/p>\n<p>The Tank 102 project involves a 500,000-gallon diesel fuel tank that will replace Tank 010, which has been found to be a source of pollution and is non-repairable. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some welding defects have been detected on the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.\u2019s Tank 102 project.
