San Antonio Middle School\u2019s Tyvieann They eclipsed three of last year\u2019s records in the girls U14 division in the recently concluded 12th Public School System\/McDonald\u2019s All Schools Athletics Championship.<\/p>\n

They collected five medals, three of which were gold, and in the process shattered the 2014 records in the 400-meter run, javelin throw, and shot put in the annual track meet held from May 21 to 23 at the Oleai track and the Hopwood Junior High School field.<\/p>\n

They was first to cross the finish line in the 400m run in 1:16.10 to beat ACS\u2019 Sarah Wu\u2019s 2014 time of 1:23.13. She then threw a distance of 16.83m in the javelin to double Wu\u2019s 7.89m.<\/p>\n

The SAMS standout also broke Joshalyn Flores\u2019 2014 record of 6.47m in shot put with a 7.82m mark. She also clinched silver in the 200m run (32.75 seconds) and long jump (3.80) to become the most bemedaled athlete.<\/p>\n

Despite They\u2019s records, Hopwood and Agape Christian School bets stole the show from the SAMS student, as they hauled the most medals with 10 apiece. Hopwood collected five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals to become the overall girls champion, followed by SAMS\u2019 3-1-1 haul. ACS settled for third with its 2-5-3 tally.<\/p>\n

Hopwood\u2019s Jessme Jones and ACS\u2019 Annie Wang settled for the silver and bronze in the 400m run with their times of 1:19.66 and 1:22.41 also besting Wu\u2019s 1:23.13, while Whispering Palms\u2019 Sally Wei (13.69m) and Elin Wang (4.63m), also of ACS, came in second and third in the javelin.<\/p>\n

Elin Wang then added a silver medal in the shot put event, having the second best throw of 5.43m, while Britney Espinosa of Dandan Middle School came in third with 5.07m.<\/p>\n

Chevy Alipio and Jones were credited with two each of Hopwood\u2019s five gold medals with the former ruling the 60m and 100m runs and the latter topping the 200m run and long jump events.<\/p>\n

Alipio finished the 60m run in 8.54 seconds followed by Jones(8.86) and Kithlin Moses (9.37) then added the century dash gold with a time of 14.48 seconds, while her Hopwood teammates finished second (14.93) and third (15.60) again.<\/p>\n

Jones won the 200m run in 32.22 seconds followed by They (32.75) and DMS\u2019 Ronaley Arriola (33.21). Jones also had the beast leap of 8.87m to rule the long jump event relegating DMS\u2019 Jaden Villacrusis (3.87) and They (3.80) to the silver and bronze medals.<\/p>\n

The other Top 3 finishers where ACS runners Annie Wang (3:23.86) and Wu (3:39.25), and DMS\u2019 Kendra Dela Cruz (3:56.81) in the 800m run; Moses (7:29.65), Annie Wang (7:33.40) and teammate Elin Wang (7:37.98) in the 1,500m run; and Sally Lai of WPS (15.91m), ACS\u2019 Sarah Wu (12.85m), and DMS\u2019 Dela Cruz (12.70) in discus throw.<\/p>\n

Annie Wang collected her second gold after ruling the 3,000m run in 14:49.23 and besting ACS teammate Elin Wang (15:32.58) in their two-cornered fight after Grace Choi of Saipan International School and Hopwood\u2019s Lyka Sally did not start.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
