The salary increase comes just two years after the board raised salaries by about 2 percent. The last major salary increase before that was in 1998.

Board chair Joseph L. G. Taijeron expressed the school board’s commitment to the school and its teachers. “We are committed to investing in our teachers. I thank them for their patience and understanding as we continue to address MCS’s most pressing needs. A 15-percent raise is a step in the right direction and the second raise in the past two years, but we are not done.”

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="http://www.saipantribune.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/MCS-Board-300x225.jpg" alt="Members of Mount Carmel School’s board: Joseph Pangelinan, Vicente Babauta, Jacqueline Che, Mable Ayuyu, Marcie Tomokane, Lynette Villagomez, Joseph Taijeron, Will Hunter, Frances Taimanao, and Jayson Tinney.
