(Ferdie de la Torre)\" width=\"100\" height=\"75\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0 One typhoon will possibly hit the CNMI and Guam directly this year, according to Weather Forecast Office Guam warning coordination meteorologist Charles \u201cChip\u201d Guard on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Guard said there will probably be three typhoons this year and one of the islands in the Marianas region may get a direct hit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it&#8217;s not a supertyphoon.probably just a category 1 or two typhoon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Guard said the best chance of a direct hit will be in June through September, and in October through December.<\/p>\n<p>Guard was the lecturer at the Emergency Management Office&#8217;s two-day Annual National Weather Service Tropical Cyclone, Disaster Preparedness, and Climate Workshop that kicked off Tuesday at LaoLao Bay Golf Resort Saipan&#8217;s Caladium Banquet Hall.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Guard held a three-hour disaster preparedness course with the media at the EMO Building on Capital Hill.<\/p>\n<p>One of the many topics that Guard discussed was the predicted typhoon risk for islands from June 2012 through May 2013.<\/p>\n<p>He said in June through September, there will be a 25-percent chance of tropical cyclone risk for the CNMI\/Guam.
