Roman \u201cBoom\u201d Alvarez kept his unbeaten record after Filipino bet Ernie Braca was disqualified following an illegal kick in the undercard bout in the Pacific X-treme Combat 48 last Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines.<\/p>\n

Alvarez improved to an immaculate 8-0 record and 3-0 inside the PXC cage, while Iloilo Combat Sports fighter Braca dropped his second straight match after winning his mixed martial arts debut by technical knockout against compatriot Rendel Camensi in the Universal Reality Combat Championship Bacolod Brawl in 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cI won via disqualification. He kicked me on my head while I was on the ground. Although, I didn\u2019t win the fight like how I wanted, a win is still a win. I didn\u2019t ask my opponent to kick my head,\u201d said Alvarez, who arrived on Saipan early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Braca landed that illegal kick to Alvarez\u2019s head with still 2:44 left in the first round.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was ready to go all the rounds against him if I had to, but things like that happen. My opponent was tough, strong, and \u2018spazzy.\u2019 But I didn\u2019t expect him to be unprofessional like that,\u201d Alvarez said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought I was in control of the fight up until the time when he managed to flip me over. I\u2019m still okay in fighting in that situation, fighting off my back, because of my jiujitsu skills,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Alvarez said he would be back to training since there\u2019s a possibility that he would be fighting again in July.<\/p>\n

\u201cPXC put me in the next card and I\u2019ll be back 10 times stronger. Thank you to my family and friends for the love and support they continue to give me,\u201d said Alvarez.<\/p>\n

Roman\u2019s cousins Shane \u201cPikaboo\u201d Alvarez and \u201cShiska\u201d Bob Alvarez, and Ken \u201cKamakazi\u201d Tanzawa were at his corner during fight night.<\/p>\n

Before topping Braca, Alvarez was coming off a first-round knockout win over Guam\u2019s Rob \u201cThe Real Deal\u201d Wusstig, needing only 26 seconds to dispatch his opponent and clinch the featherweight belt in last year\u2019s Trench Tech 18: Rock & Rumble.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
