{"id":204363,"date":"2015-06-16T06:06:55","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=204363"},"modified":"2015-06-16T06:06:55","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T20:06:55","slug":"construction-on-the-way-for-star-marianas-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/construction-on-the-way-for-star-marianas-facility\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction on the way for Star Marianas facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Construction appears to be ongoing for a light commuter facility at the Guam airport for Star Marianas Air\u2019s use, according to the inter-island carrier\u2019s president Shaun Christian.<\/p>\n<p>The Guam International Airport Authority issued a notice to proceed in April for contractors to renovate this facility, also known as the \u201cYellow Cargo Bay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This after plans for an interim facility were dropped as GIAA found them not cost-effective.<\/p>\n<p>Christian said yesterday that he hasn\u2019t received any correspondence from GIAA since May 11 when they confirmed receipt of his email identifying which of the planned offices Star Marianas preferred.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve heard from our pilots flying cargo into Guam that construction is going on and that it appears as though progress is being made for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ingress and egress issues, but haven\u2019t seen any pictures to confirm,\u201d he told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>He said he does not yet have any specific information on a planned Customs processing area and if\/when Guam Customs intends to staff the location.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, Star Marinas only flies cargo into Guam. They have been trying to get self-access to the Guam airport for the past couple of years.
