{"id":204556,"date":"2015-06-18T06:06:22","date_gmt":"2015-06-17T20:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=204556"},"modified":"2015-06-18T06:06:22","modified_gmt":"2015-06-17T20:06:22","slug":"lieto-acquitted-of-burglary-theft-of-copper-wires","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/lieto-acquitted-of-burglary-theft-of-copper-wires\/","title":{"rendered":"Lieto acquitted of burglary, theft of copper wires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>George Lieto, who was accused with another man of breaking into a store\u2019s generator room in Kagman and stealing over $1,600 in copper wires, was found not guilty of these charges yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In the reading of the verdict at the Superior Court yesterday afternoon, a jury found Lieto not guilty of burglary and not guilty of theft.<\/p>\n<p>Lieto\u2019s co-defendant, Terwik A. Ludwig, had pleaded guilty last February and was slapped with a three-year prison term.<\/p>\n<p>Lieto\u2019s lawyer, Matthew Holley, said after the verdict was read that they were relieved and happy that the trial was over. He said he appreciated the jury\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, chief prosecutor Leonardo Rapadas of Attorney General\u2019s Office separately said they trusted the verdict and the jury\u2019s time in deliberating over the evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Lieto\u2019s jury trial began on Monday in the Superior Court. On Monday, the prosecution had called to the witness stand three witnesses\u2014patrol officer David Rabauliman, the manager of New Kagman Market, and the owner of a surveillance camera.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, Lieto and Ludwig were separately arrested. According to a report from police detective Catherine B.
