The Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services introduced to members of the community a network that aims to help in law enforcement and first response.<\/p>\n

The Marianas Regional Fusion center\u2019s website was shown to stakeholders of the Commonwealth at the workforce development training last week.<\/p>\n

It was presented by Marvin Seman, special assistant for Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Joseph Quitano, U.S Attorney\u2019s Office National Security specialist.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Marianas Regional Fusion center which is located in Guam is the 78th recognized fusion center in the nation. It is the most western fusion center and it encompasses the Pacific Region,\u201d Seman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe importance of the fusion center is it allows us, the various partners including the community and the private sector, to share information about concerns and issues relating to our homeland security,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

According to Seman, the Marianas Law Enforcement Regional Information Network or MLRIN is a network where information about various issues relating to crimes, environment, hazards and others can be shared. It was established to combine personnel and investigative resources to the Mariana Island regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a place where we have dedicated individuals that work and analyze this information to better equip and better provide resources to the local law enforcement,\u201d Seman said.<\/p>\n

MLRIN also provides comprehensive intelligence products that give public safety officials a vital regional picture of trends and patterns relating to terrorist operations and other criminal activities. It also serves as the Joint Terrorism Task Force for Mariana Islands Region<\/p>\n

Aside from agencies in the CNMI, participating agencies of the fusion center include the Guam Police Department, Department of Corrections Officers, Attorney General\u2019s Office, as well as federal agencies like Andersen Air Force Base Security Officers, Naval Base Guam Security Officers, U.S. Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Coast Guard Investigation Services, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
