Villanueva)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bank of Guam donated to the Guma\u2019 Simiyan Ma\u00f1aina-ta that will be travelling this week to Guam for the 2015 Pa\u2019a Taotao Tano Chamorro Dance Competition and Festival.<\/p>\n<p>A $2,000 check was given to the group last Friday by the bank\u2019s executives including general manager Marcie Tomokane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very heartwarming to know that they share a common passion for displaying our culture,\u201d Guma\u2019 Simiyan Ma\u00f1aina-ta board chair Elaine Cabrera said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very grateful for the Bank of Guam and others for helping us,\u201d founder L.J. Castro said.<br \/>\nTo show appreciation and gratitude, the group performed several songs after the check presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Guma\u2019 Simiyan Ma\u00f1aina-ta is a non-profit organization that aims to give individuals an opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the Chamorro culture through visual and performing arts.<\/p>\n<p>They were invited to compete in the 12th year of the festival, which is the signature event that brings Chamorro dance houses, or \u201cgumas\u201d, together for a showcase of Chamorro dance and culture.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time that members of the group will be representing the CNMI as Guma\u2019 Simiyan Ma\u00f1aina-ta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is Simiyan Ma\u00f1aina-ta very first time as a guma.
