Police arrested in Dandan on Tuesday a 31-year-old man who was allegedly found in possession of six unregistered rifles, 34 knives, two bayonets, 98 different types of bullets, and more than 5 grams of methamphetamine or \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Don Sanchez was taken to Superior Court yesterday on charges of manufacture, sale or possession of firearms and dangerous devices; possession and carrying of firearms, and trafficking and possession of controlled substance.<\/p>\n

Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $100,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for June 30.<\/p>\n

Assistant public defender Mathew Meyer was appointed as counsel for Sanchez.<\/p>\n

Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said the weapons and $1,000 worth of \u201cice\u201d were seized during a search at Sanchez\u2019s residence along Flame Tree Road in Dandan.<\/p>\n

Tarkong said the operation was in line with DPS Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero\u2019s war on \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the raid was conducted by DPS in collaboration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Commonwealth Ports Authority, CNMI Customs Services, and the Homeland Security Investigations.<\/p>\n

Tarkong said the joint operation was launched after Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio issued a search and arrest warrant for firearms and drugs against Sanchez.<\/p>\n

Tarkong said police detective Jesus K. Wabol requested for the search and arrest warrant after receiving information that Sanchez was involved in selling guns.<\/p>\n

Wabol said that last Saturday, a \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d disclosed that Sanchez offered to sell him an M1 rifle.<\/p>\n

Wabol said the following day the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d revealed that Sanchez was willing to sell the gun for $300.<\/p>\n

The detective said police and CNMI-DEA Task Force conducted a monitored buy operation against Sanchez on Tuesday using the \u201ccooperating defendant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wabol said the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d managed to buy from Sanchez the M1 rifle with three bullets and one magazine. It was Sanchez\u2019s cousin who allegedly received the money.<\/p>\n

The \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d was allegedly found a residue of \u201cice\u201d from his car.<\/p>\n

Authorities then raided Sanchez\u2019s house, where they recovered more guns, \u201cice,\u201d and other weapons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
