{"id":206149,"date":"2015-07-08T06:06:40","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T20:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=206149"},"modified":"2015-07-08T06:06:40","modified_gmt":"2015-07-07T20:06:40","slug":"cnmi-labor-looking-into-tdhc-employees-not-getting-paid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cnmi-labor-looking-into-tdhc-employees-not-getting-paid\/","title":{"rendered":"CNMI Labor looking into TDHC employees not getting paid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Department of Labor said it is looking into the issue of employees not getting paid by Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino.<\/p>\n<p>Over 600 Tinian Dynasty employees who are mostly alien workers were reported to have not received their salaries for more than a week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CNMI DOL Tinian Office is looking into the matter,\u201d Labor Secretary Edith DeLeon Guerrero said.<\/p>\n<p>DeLeon Guerrero added that they are taking a \u201cproactive approach\u201d instead of a reactive one when it comes to enforcement of labor laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my policy that active labor enforcement matters be pursued with consistency and diligence,\u201d DeLeon Guerrero said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the work and professional standards that the CNMI DOL is expected of and must do,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Tinian Dynasty is one of the biggest private employers on Tinian.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the recent pending payment of salaries, a Tinian Dynasty staff said they also experienced delay in receiving paychecks of up to nine payrolls before 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The staff added that they were paid on time only in July 2014 when the U.S. government filed criminal charges against Hong Kong Entertainment (Overseas) Investments, owner of Tinian Dynasty.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network or FinCEN recently assessed a civil penalty of $75 million against HKE for \u201cwillful and egregious violations of the Bank Secrecy Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Department of Labor said it is looking into the issue of employees not&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":51,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[900],"tags":[5111,1628,5204,380],"class_list":["post-206149","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","tag-bank-secrecy-act","tag-hke","tag-tdhc","tag-tinian-dynasty"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/206149","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/51"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=206149"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/206149\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=206149"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=206149"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=206149"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
