Graffiti was found inside Crystal Cave, also known as Honeycomb Cave, in Marpi, while some stalagmites were broken over the weekend, a Saipan resident told Saipan Tribune yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re shocked, upset. Who could do that to such a beautiful and unique cave?\u201d Shelly Scott said.

\nScott said she and her two friends visited the cave on Saturday morning and it was still fine.<\/p>\n

She said on Sunday morning her friend tagged along three other friends to the same Crystal Cave, and they were shocked seeing stalactites being spray painted with big words or names with green and pink colors.<\/p>\n

Scott said her friend took photographs of the graffiti.<\/p>\n

Scott said glass bottles were also left in the cave.<\/p>\n

She said during their last exploration at the same cave last June, they found a name and date carving.<\/p>\n

Scott believed that the carving says \u201cZach Lay 2\/8\/15 and 3\/23\/15.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott said she called the Department of Public Lands and the Division of Fish and Wildlife about the incident over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be really great if some sort of cleanup could be done on the paint as well as perhaps a list of do\u2019s and don\u2019ts when visiting historical and geological sites in the CNMI in the news (look only with your eyes, don\u2019t take anything, etc.),\u201d she added. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
