The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. noted several outages on Saipan during Typhoon Nangka but power was quickly brought back up during the storm that saw little damage to CUC operations.<\/p>\n
Sought for the status of CUC after and during the storm on Friday, acting executive director John Riegel said Rota was pretty much \u201cuntouched.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said Tinian got some action but everything was operational. \u201cNothing down in the power or the water,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Riegel said there were several outages on Saipan yesterday evening and into the night but these were quickly addressed.<\/p>\n
He said power Friday was fully restored.<\/p>\n
Villages that lost power included Kagman and Chalan Kiya, he said.<\/p>\n
According to Riegel, crews were working through 10:30pm Thursday night. By that time, all power had been restored for quite some time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey continued with trimming trees today but right now at this moment I think things are just running normal,\u201d he said, adding that there were no extra crews out.<\/p>\n
CUC was functioning and open all day Friday.<\/p>\n
Riegel said there were still accepting payments and payments were being done through the \u201cold-fashioned\u201d way, through hard checks, not electronics.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are having some problems doing things electronically but we are still making payments and accepting payments,\u201d he said. He did not know if anybody has missed there\u2019re payments due to the network outage, when asked.<\/p>\n
