{"id":206638,"date":"2015-07-30T04:00:04","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T18:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=206638"},"modified":"2015-07-30T04:00:04","modified_gmt":"2015-07-29T18:00:04","slug":"thursday-market-still-cant-operate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/thursday-market-still-cant-operate\/","title":{"rendered":"Thursday Market still can\u2019t operate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Thursday Market, which was supposed to relocate to Paseo de Marianas in Garapan, will still not operate today.<\/p>\n<p>According to Department of Community and Cultural Affairs\u2019 Commonwealth Council for Arts executive director Angel Hocog, they are still waiting for their permit from the Department of Public Lands.<\/p>\n<p>Hocog said they have already submitted the requirements for the permit for a while now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir staff told us [the application is] with the secretary already,\u201d Hocog said. \u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s holding us back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It has been almost two months since the weekly market has not been in operation. It last opened at the Garapan Fishing Base on June 11, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Thursday Market gave way to the Liberation Festivities, which is currently using the same location and will be there until Aug. 16.<\/p>\n<p>The weekly market was supposed to move back to its original location at the Paseo de Marianas but since it hasn\u2019t secured its permit yet, they can\u2019t operate.<\/p>\n<p>Hocog added that they still have to fix some electrical lining once they secure the permit.
