(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\nThe first week, which began on July 13, featured various sports activities to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among the 114 youth participants ages 6 to 13. These activities included baseball, mini track, volleyball, basketball obstacle courses and a series of health presentations coordinated by the \u201cCNMI Let\u2019s Move Marianas.\u201d To provide additional empowerment opportunities for the older youth groups, DYS extended an invitation and recruited a total of 38 volunteers to lead the camp participants in the daily activities. Most of the recruited volunteers signed up to meet community hour requirements for their respective schools.<\/p>\n
Local artists from the DCCA Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, man\u2019amko from the Office on Aging, and the Carolinian Affairs Office highlighted the second week\u2019s activities with various arts\/craft sessions, which included coconut shell painting, cultural dances, music, man\u2019amko storytelling, mwar making, bead making, leaf painting, paper art, and flower designs.<\/p>\n
The last day concluded the arts\/craft program with additional stations featuring the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library Bookmobile and public safety awareness by the DPS Boating Safety and Special Enforcement Action section.<\/p>\n
