Cape Air\/United Airlines has confirmed the arrival of a second plane that will service its Guam to CNMI route.<\/p>\n
Cape Air president Linda Markham told Saipan Tribune Friday last week that their first priority is safety.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very pleased to have our second aircraft back to serve the communities,\u201d said Markham. \u201cOur first priority with our operation is safety, and completing the required maintenance on our second ATR-42 ensures we uphold our standards for safety. We appreciate the support and patience from the communities during the trying period when we had one aircraft.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to a continuing our service on the Guam-CNMI route, and are excited to announce that we will be enhancing our schedules this September with added frequency to Rota and Saipan,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) first announced the news on Tuesday. The Commonwealth Ports Authority separately confirmed the news.<\/p>\n
Frustrated consumer Rose Hocog, who began a petition last year over the growing concerns on the mechanical and technical problems being encountered by Cape Air\/United\u2019s aircraft and its frequent cancellation of flights, said the news \u201conly means that Cape Air will have two planes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t guarantee a safe and reliable service nor does it mean that we will get the kind of service we deserve for the amount they are charging.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to know if the planes\u2019 AC will be working, will it still leak when it rains, what the backup plan is should one of the planes break down again\u2014these are not new planes so we expect that it will have issues again,\u201d she said last week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
