To deliver an immediate but limited solution to Saipan\u2019s water outage, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. was set to open a third water filling station to the public yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Starting at 3:30pm, CUC was set to provide up to 100 gallons of water per household per day at the Kanat Tabla reservoir. The site will remain open until 7pm.<\/p>\n
CUC opened the first of four filling stations at the Agag reservoir at 10am and the second filling station at the Capital Hill reservoir at 3pm. The Agag filling station is scheduled to close at 5pm and reopen today, Aug. 7, at a time to be determined by CUC. The Capital Hill filling station is scheduled to close at 7pm and reopen today, Aug. 7, at a time to be determined by CUC.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe water made available at the filling stations is strictly for non-commercial residential use. No water buffaloes will be filled. The water will also need to be sanitized before it can be used by the community through the use of chlorine bleach or boiling,\u201d CUC said in a statement.<\/p>\n
CUC representatives will be at each site; however, customers will be required to fill their bottles and storage tanks on their own.<\/p>\n
CUC will open four filling stations in total: Kanat Tabla and one additional source will be open until the supply in each of the reservoirs is depleted. The Agag and Capital Hill reservoirs will remain open as long as the pumping system is operational or until CUC achieves a more stable solution to Saipan\u2019s water needs.
