{"id":207398,"date":"2015-08-07T06:06:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T20:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=207398"},"modified":"2015-08-07T06:06:21","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T20:06:21","slug":"residents-worry-of-another-typhoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/residents-worry-of-another-typhoon\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents worry of another \u2018typhoon\u2019;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four days after Typhoon Soudelor devastated Saipan, rumors of another \u201ctyphoon\u201d coming are worrying some residents, particularly those that are still recovering and staying in shelters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe community doesn\u2019t have to worry,\u201d public information specialist LJ Castro said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to dispel any rumors of an incoming typhoon. I know there\u2019s a public perception that there\u2019s going to be an additional typhoon,\u201d said special projects coordinator Kevin Bautista.<\/p>\n<p>Bautista said they were able to contact the National Weather Service and the Guam Homeland Security and said that there is a trough at the back end of Soudelor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeather like that is usually common after a storm passes. We are in the rainy season and we just want to make sure that everybody\u2019s rest assured that sometimes this comes with the territory as the storm passes,\u201d Castro said.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday\u2019s forecast from NWS Guam said that they are monitoring a tropical disturbance\u2014not a typhoon\u2014east of the northern CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said \u201cthe main threat from this system will be heavy rainfall to Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan as it drifts north-northwestward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It said the disturbance was at 185 miles east of Alamagan or 205 miles east southeast of Agrihan.
