The Office of the Governor will start reviewing a government-wide audit report conducted by Deloitte & Touche.<\/p>\n
In a letter to Gov. Eloy S. Inos, the audit firm said the report is \u201con internal control over financial reporting and on compliance and other matters based on an audit of financial statements performed in accordance with government auditing standards\u201d in the United States.<\/p>\n
The audit covers \u201cfinancial statements of the governmental activities, the aggregate discretely presented component units, each major fund, and the aggregate remaining fund information of the CNMI as of, and for the year Sept. 30, 2014, and the related notes to the financial statements, which collectively comprise the CNMI\u2019s basic financial statements.\u201d<\/p>\n
The report was dated July 17.<\/p>\n
Press secretary Ivan Blanco confirmed that the Office of the Governor has received the audit report and will start reviewing it.<\/p>\n
He said Gov. Eloy S. Inos, who is still on vacation in Seattle, will be informed of the audit report.<\/p>\n
Deloitte & Touche added that \u201cfor purposes of this report, our consideration of internal control over financial reporting and our tests of compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts and grants, and other matters did not include the Commonwealth Ports Authority, the Commonwealth Development Authority, and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.\u201d<\/p>\n
The audit firm said the report also included the CNMI\u2019s responses to its findings.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe CNMI\u2019s responses were not subjected to the auditing procedures applied in the audit of the financial statements, and accordingly, we express no opinion on them.\u201d<\/p>\n
It added that the purpose of the report is \u201csolely to describe the scope of our testing of internal control and compliance and the result of the that testing, and not to provide an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity\u2019s internal control or on compliance.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
