{"id":207566,"date":"2015-07-21T15:49:26","date_gmt":"2015-07-21T05:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=207566"},"modified":"2015-07-21T15:49:26","modified_gmt":"2015-07-21T05:49:26","slug":"3-rescued-after-falling-off-ladder-beach-cliff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/3-rescued-after-falling-off-ladder-beach-cliff\/","title":{"rendered":"\u20183 rescued after falling off Ladder Beach cliff\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A two-and-a-half-hour drill saw personnel of the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services \u201csafely rescuing\u201d three persons, including two children, who \u201cfell\u201d from the cliff at Ladder Beach on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to DFEMS spokesman Derek Gersonde yesterday, the Ladder Beach scenario was the first of many unannounced response exercises that they will be conducting.<\/p>\n<p>Gersonde said Friday\u2019s exercise was to test their activation and response time as well as how the search and rescue team members would conduct their mission.<\/p>\n<p>Under the exercise scenario, DFEMS received a call that \u201csomeone had fallen from the cliff at Ladder Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Medic 4 unit from Koblerville Fire Station was the first to arrive at the scene, followed by a Hazmat Unit from the Susupe Fire Station. Medic 4 personnel determined that there was a need to activate the Search and Rescue Unit, which required both on- and off-duty personnel to be dispatched to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Gersonde said the first Search and Rescue Unit personnel arrived within 12 minutes of the initial dispatch.
