The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is one step closer to providing limited water service islandwide with the addition of As Teo to the growing list of villages receiving water on Saipan.<\/p>\n

The limited water service schedule was disrupted by Tropical Storm Goni, but the storm\u2019s passing has allowed CUC to reinstate and expand the schedule.<\/p>\n

Generators provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency were disconnected from CUC\u2019s pumps and wells in advance of the Tropical Storm Goni and have been reactivated and refueled by FEMA\u2019s contractor.<\/p>\n

Below is the current schedule for limited water service by village:<\/p>\n

\u2022 San Antonio and Chalan Piao: 8am-1pm daily<\/p>\n

\u2022 Chalan Kanoa: Odd days: 6pm-8am; Even days: 1pm-6pm<\/p>\n

\u2022 Susupe, Oleai, and San Jose: Odd days: 1pm-6pm; Even days: 6pm-8am<\/p>\n

\u2022 Chalan Kiya: 24 hours (lower elevations only)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Navy Hill (Upper) 12pm-4pm daily<\/p>\n

\u2022 Navy Hill (Lower): 8am-12pm<\/p>\n

\u2022 Chinatown: 4pm-5pm daily<\/p>\n

\u2022 As Teo: 3pm-7pm daily<\/p>\n

All times are subject to change based on the volume of water coming into the tank, according to CUC.<\/p>\n

Water filling stations<\/strong>
\nCUC continues to provide up to 100 gallons of water per household per day at filling stations across Saipan. Residential customers may fill their containers in As Teo, Capital Hill, Kannat Tabla, Navy Hill, and As Matuis as we continue to restore essential services that were rendered inoperable by Typhoon Soudelor. Each site is open daily from 12pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n

The water made available at the filling stations is strictly for non-commercial residential use. No water buffaloes will be filled.<\/p>\n

Safety precaution<\/strong>
\nAs a precaution, all water provided by CUC will need to be sanitized through the use of chlorine bleach or boiling before it can be used by the community.<\/p>\n

FOR BOILING: Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.<\/p>\n

FOR CHLORINATING: Alternatively, customers may also disinfect their water with bleach using the following measurements:<\/p>\n

Note: Allow the water to stand in a covered container, away from the sunlight, if possible, for at least 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
