{"id":208324,"date":"2015-08-18T06:06:55","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T20:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=208324"},"modified":"2015-08-18T06:06:55","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T20:06:55","slug":"feds-to-ship-in-hundreds-of-power-poles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/feds-to-ship-in-hundreds-of-power-poles\/","title":{"rendered":"Feds to ship in hundreds of power poles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Federal authorities are planning to ship several hundred pieces of power poles to Saipan as part of disaster relief aid.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Emergency Management Agency Power Task Force is providing assistance to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.<\/p>\n<p>Typhoon Soudelor crippled CUC\u2019s power generation and distribution systems when it tore through Saipan over two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest situational report from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Power Task Force is coordinating the airlift of 150 \u201cClass One 45-foot poles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEqual amounts of 35-foot poles and 40-foot poles also will be lifted as logistics are determined,\u201d DOE states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[FEMA] will acquire and deliver an additional 800 poles via barge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of yesterday, CUC\u2019s pole supply on island remains depleted as supply is gone due to restoration efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The latest count of damaged power poles is at 355.
