Best Sunshine Int\u2019l. Ltd., Saipan\u2019s biggest investor, has taken direct action to alleviate Saipan\u2019s already debilitating situation caused by Typhoon Soudelor. The investor has initiated assistive measure by offering continuous assistance to community leaders and disaster relief arms of the government.<\/p>\n

With the vast majority of the island in a state of ruin and destruction, government officials are continually putting their efforts in cleaning up debris and creating safe passage for residents and motorists by cutting down precarious branches of fallen trees, unsteady utility poles, and litter all over the island.<\/p>\n

Seeing the need for the cleanup to be accomplished more quickly, Best Sunshine donated four chainsaws and 30 safety vests for the use of the office of Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang. In conjunction with the donation of equipment is the hiring of 30 temporary workers who are assigned as manpower for the cleanup. These temporary workers are selected by the mayor\u2019s office while wages for their services are completely paid for by Best Sunshine. The time frame allocated for the services of these temporary workers will be for a period of 90 days.<\/p>\n

Mark Brown, CEO of Best Sunshine, along with Tao Xing, CSO of Imperial Pacific, LLC, have expressed the company\u2019s commitment to the typhoon relief and recovery efforts of the Saipan government.<\/p>\n

Henry Chlarson, a 19-year-old resident who is assigned as one of the temporary workers, says, \u201cI\u2019m proud to be part of this group. Of course, I am very grateful to Best Sunshine for the assistance and support they are giving, which not only helps us as individuals secure a temporary job, but also, on a wider range, helps the entire community. Hopefully, there will be more people who are willing to come in and sign up for this cleanup because this is our home, our island.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another temporary worker, 35-year-old Fernando Sanchez, says, \u201cI\u2019m very happy with Best Sunshine for giving us this opportunity. They made their aid visible. People see us on Beach Road and hopefully this will encourage them to help clean up our island. Our next plan is to go to the villages and help them clean up their debris.
