The Northern Marianas Humanities Council announced yesterday that the 3rd Marianas History Conference originally schedule to be held on Saipan on Sept. 4-6 has been cancelled due to Typhoon Soudelor.<\/p>\n
Tentative plans call for this conference to be held on Saipan sometime in 2017.<\/p>\n
Presenters who were scheduled to participate in this conference have been invited to have their papers included in an e-publication that will be made available to the public in the near future.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the Council is exploring the possibility of holding a mini-conference within the next few months that focuses on the issues associated with the U.S. military\u2019s plans for base development and training activities in the Marianas archipelago.<\/p>\n
