They graduated from Kagman High School about five years ago and moved to Guam where they found work with Murphy Enterprises.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_209226\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-209226\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a attid=\"209226\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Murphy-pix.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Murphy-pix-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Murphy Enterprises Inc. has arrived on Saipan to assist with needed roof repairs on island after the destruction of Typhoon Soudelor. Chan)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nCompany owner Matthew Murphy told Saipan Tribune they are looking to set up a \u201cpermanent base\u201d on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe saw the news and how bad it was and they said \u2018Boss, we want to help,\u2019\u201d Murphy said, referring to Aguon and Aldan.<\/p>\n<p>The three arrived on Saipan three days after Typhoon Soudelor hit.<\/p>\n<p>When Saipan Tribune interviewed them on Monday, they had just finished work on emergency re-roofing repairs on Atkins Kroll.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy Enterprises Inc. specializes in steel roof and remodeling.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon, who has worked for Murphy since 2014, said he didn\u2019t know he would be returning home.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI was shocked,\u201d Aguon said when he saw the storm\u2019s damage. \u201cI didn\u2019t expect it to be like this. I was hurt too. I have sisters and brothers here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since his return, Aguon said they have repaired and replaced a lot of damaged roofs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working everyday,\u201d he said. \u201cI feel happy to be back on the island to help. This is my place. I\u2019m willing to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ignacio Aldan, who has not been back to the island for five years, feels the same way. He said he is \u201ctrying to make the island beautiful again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked to describe the thoughts he had upon returning home, he said, \u201cI don\u2019t know what to say\u2014it was sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meaningful work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Murphy Enterprises hopes to bring a constant flow of materials, communication, and construction services between its Saipan and Guam locations to help Saipan improve daily life and establish normalcy.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy says he has been working closely with insurance adjustors at Century Insurance, putting out proposals and putting these into people\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy says the damage was worse than he thought, noting damage to supposedly typhoon-proof \u201croll-up doors\u201d around the island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe get them from Australia and they are designed to withstand 175-mile hour winds. They\u2019re stamped by an engineer. There\u2019s a special typhoon track, a steel track that get\u2019s encased in\u2014so when the door\u2019s down the chance of it blowing away are very, very minimal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when debris hits or penetrates a building, Murphy said, whether it be tin or a piece of wood, the roll-up door \u201cstarts to unravel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what I\u2019ve seen,\u201d he said, noting damage around the airport, port, and Lower Base areas.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy said he is looking to provide services and help people by doing surveys and damage estimates for them.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI\u2019m giving a line-item breakdown. I try to give it to them in something simple and easy to read. Take photos with it. I cut and paste descriptions of what the photo is about,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy says he plans to be here for at least a year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019ll have a permanent base here, from now on,\u201d he added. \u201cI personally will be here at least a year, going back and forth to Guam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More information about Murphy and his work can be found at murphyenterprises.net<\/p>\n<p>They have recently added a \u201cSaipan\u201d section to their website.
