In return, that $5 will be matched by Saipan World Resort and the total will be donated to typhoon relief efforts on Saipan.

That’s the deal that Saipan World Resort is offering people and, although the company has set an initial limit of 100 persons per day, they have been exceeding this number every day since Saturday, according to Mike Babauta, the company’s local sales and marketing and public relations manager.

“We wanted, in a sense, if the community donated $5, for them to get something out of it. So with their $5 donation, they can come here, enjoy the water park, get away from the stress, the chaos,” Babauta said.

The 10-day typhoon relief fundraiser will give residents whole-day access to all water park amenities such as the Wave Jungle and their Aquaglide water park inflatable equipment at the beach.

The donation rate is much, much lower than their regular water park rate of $30 for adults and $20 for children.

“The $5, we’re not getting anything out of it. Everything will be donated to typhoon relief. And on top of that, whatever we collect, World Resort will match it,” Babauta said

He said they’ve been exceeding their 100-person limit per day as didn’t want to turn away residents who just want to have a fun and relaxing time.

“It’s been crazy. …We try to accommodate everybody. It’s just based on safety reason, based on equipment that we try to limit the number,” he said.

Babauta said they are still thinking where the funds will go but they are considering non-government organizations such as the American Red Cross and Karidat.

World Resort itself did not escape Soudelor’s wrath but Babauta said the facilities were fixed after a week for the public to enjoy.

“Some of the slides were down; the pools were heavily tainted with dirt. It took some time but we got it going,” Babauta said.

“Before we opened, our maintenance team went overtime trying to fix everything. Cracks, nails, glass, everything. They worked overtime to clean up and make everything safe,” he added.

World Resort’s typhoon fundraiser will last until Aug. 31.
