Rep. Edwin Aldan (Ind-Tinian) is disappointed with Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino\u2019s decision to temporarily close its casino doors, worried about how this would impact the public and the company\u2019s community programs.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnfortunately, the closure of the Dynasty\u2019s casino will have a rippling effect on not just employees, but the community at large because it will also affect programs such as medical referral and scholarships,\u201d Aldan said.<\/p>\n
Aldan said, however, that he supports Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas\u2019 decision to give affected municipal employees notice informing them that their contracts might not be renewed on Oct. 1, 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important that those who may be affected are informed immediately so that they can immediately start thinking about making adjustments to their finances,\u201d Aldan said.<\/p>\n
Casino revenues provide funding for 43 positions within the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission, Tinian Mayor\u2019s Office, and the Office of the Tinian Municipal Council.<\/p>\n
Aldan acknowledged the difficulty for any elected official to notify their staff of a furlough or non-renewal of their employment contracts.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the responsible and right thing to do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Aldan said he looks forward to Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission\u2019s approval of Tinian Ent. Casino license so that a casino can reopen on the island.<\/p>\n
\u201cCasino revenues have allowed the municipality to provide much needed programs from our man\u2019amko to our manhoben. I am hoping and looking forward to the approval of TEC\u2019s license so that the casino can reopen and begin generating some revenues so that we can continue those programs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
