<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe mixed martial arts fighter garnered a plethora of relief goods and donations from various individuals and businesses in Guam and had them shipped to Saipan in a container purchased after his victorious fight in Guam.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Saipan native said it is \u201cheart-wrenching\u201d to see the devastation that islanders continue to endure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThere wasn\u2019t much warning regarding the typhoon and the next morning I remember seeing photos of the devastation,\u201d he told Saipan Tribune. \u201cIt was a hard sight to see. The phone lines were all down so I was worried for family, friends, and the island.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since getting in touch with his family and friends, Camacho has coordinated highly successful fundraisers in Guam, garnering the support of businesses such as Pika\u2019s Cafe, Cars Plus Guam, Fokai Industry, and Custom Fitness.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTeamwork makes the dream work,\u201d he explained. \u201cDivided we are weak. Together we are strong!\u201d<\/p>\n
Camacho said that stories of loss have motivated him to help even more.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI cannot imagine such a loss that could be to a family,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is no power and water and lots of families deep in the villages aren\u2019t getting the help they need because they are \u2018off the grid\u2019\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Camacho told Saipan Tribune that it is a \u201cduty to serve and help our people\u201d as long as he is well and able.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe God has blessed me with all He has given me to serve a greater purpose than just fight and win competitions,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Camacho is now on Saipan to personally distribute the donations, particularly to those in remote parts of the island.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
