{"id":209629,"date":"2015-09-02T06:06:51","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T20:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=209629"},"modified":"2015-09-02T06:06:51","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T20:06:51","slug":"long-term-recovery-group-named-cnmi-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/long-term-recovery-group-named-cnmi-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Long-term recovery group named \u2018CNMI Care\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The group that will be focusing on long-term recovery efforts on Saipan after Typhoon Soudelor has been named \u201cCNMI Care: Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Various non-government, non-profit, faith-based organizations and foundations as well as private companies approved the name at a meeting yesterday at the Office of the Governor\u2019s conference room.<\/p>\n<p>CNMI Care\u2019s mission statement states: \u201cOur mission is to build a resilient community and to identify, facilitate, and deliver resources and long-term support to address the unmet needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_209630\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-209630\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/cnmi-care-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-209630\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/cnmi-care-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"A month after Typhoon Soudelor\u2019s devastation on Saipan, various groups focusing on long-term recovery efforts have come together and named themselves \u201cCNMI Care: Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts.\u201d (Frauleine S. Villanueva)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing extremely well, we\u2019ve got a great team going,\u201d interim facilitator Gerri Willis said.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Deleon Guerrero, chief of staff of Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, and Michael Kern, Federal Emergency Management Agency-Pacific Area Office voluntary agency liaison, were also at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Kern talked about collating the data from organizations such as each groups\u2019 description of disaster services, number of volunteers, total volunteer hours and donated items.<\/p>\n<p>The group also created committees for communications and resource development, donations and volunteer management, workforce recovery and construction management, spiritual and emotional care, and disaster case management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach group, they\u2019re coming up with committee chairs and in a couple weeks we\u2019ll meet again and have a report,\u201d Willis said.<\/p>\n<p>Among those who joined the donations and volunteer management are United4Saipan, Empty Vessel Ministry, and Best Sunshine International, Ltd.
