{"id":209718,"date":"2015-09-03T06:00:47","date_gmt":"2015-09-02T20:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=209718"},"modified":"2015-09-03T06:00:47","modified_gmt":"2015-09-02T20:00:47","slug":"pedaling-for-progress-on-tinian-set-for-oct-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/pedaling-for-progress-on-tinian-set-for-oct-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedaling for Progress on Tinian set for Oct. 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bikers Association of Tinian will be holding the 3rd Annual Pedaling for Progress 35K MTB Race\/Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on Oct. 3.<\/p>\n<p>The race, which will start and end at Taga Beach and will have competitions in various age groups, as the title of the event suggests is being held to promote breast cancer awareness and honor cancer victims and survivors and their support group. Registration is now open with BAT urging Saipan bikers to join the race. More information will be posted at BAT\u2019s official Facebook page as the event nears.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, over 60 bikers participated in the 35K MTB race, including more than 20 who competed in the youth division.<\/p>\n<p>Tinian\u2019s Norlo Jacosalem led all finishers and was named winner in the men\u2019s 36 and above division, as he completed the course in 1:20:54. Jacosalem won his age group after reaching Taga Beach ahead of Winston Omar and Fernando Cacabelos, who timed in at 1:26:18 and 1:28:39, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 35 below age group, J.C. Libut crossed the finished line more than a minute ahead of Shingo Kajiwara as the former posted 1:24:50 against the latter\u2019s 1:26:19. Ian Pascua rounded out the Top 3 after registering 1:29:33, while other notable finishers were Ulysses Gana (1:44:36), Joe Camacho (1:29:50) and Derek Gifford (2:24:43).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s division, Kimberly King-Hinds was the runaway winner as she checked in at 1:25:19, more than 25 minutes ahead of 36-and-above runner-up Majorie Cabay, who logged 1:57:58.
