The funds were also used to host a faculty conference where more than 60 participants gathered to discuss professional development and to restart the school’s mentorship program, which helped 24 students gain extra clinical practice. This year, the money will go toward similar efforts to provide more support to students, staff, and faculty.

“Without TakeCare, we couldn’t do it,” Hattori-Uchima said. “We’re so excited. We can really implement our plans to improve the NCLEX pass rate.”

Hattori-Uchima said so far, for the class of 2015, the NCLEX pass rate is 86 percent, surpassing last year’s national average of 81 percent.

TakeCare president Jeff Larsen said it’s a pleasure to not only give back to UOG but the community at large where students will be working and improving healthcare on island.

“It’s the right thing to do for the community,” he said. “We’ve had a great partnership with the UOG School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and we want to make sure we’re giving back where possible. It also benefits us because those students come back to us as employees or future staff.” (UOG)

With anticipation and excitement, the University of Guam School of Nursing and Health Sciences recently…

[4
6869,6870,1089,445
post-209755","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","tag-jeffrey-larsen","tag-luz-celine-cabading","tag-nclex","tag-uog
["GET
