A man was caught allegedly trying to steal a generator from a house\u2019s storage room in Chalan Piao during a gathering on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
Vincent S. Muna, 29, was arrested for burglary and attempted theft.<\/p>\n
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio increased Mu\u00f1a\u2019s bail from $11,000 cash to $20,000 cash.<\/p>\n
Police reports state that a police officer responded Thursday at 8:37pm to a theft incident at a house near Clean Laundry in Chalan Piao. When the officer arrived, he saw two men holding Mu\u00f1a in front of a house\u2019s garage.<\/p>\n
The house\u2019s owner told the officer that he and his friend caught Mu\u00f1a trying to steal their generator.<\/p>\n
The house\u2019s owner showed the officer the generator, which was three feet from the trunk of Muna\u2019s Toyota Camry.<\/p>\n
During her interview with Mu\u00f1a at the Department of Corrections on Friday, police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated that Mu\u00f1a claimed he was at the Chalan Piao residence to look for a friend.<\/p>\n
Mu\u00f1a said he backed up his car toward the house\u2019s storage.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said that, according to Muna, when the house\u2019s owner found him, he was standing in front of the garage and that the generator was next to his car\u2019s trunk.<\/p>\n
The house\u2019s owner told police that he and his wife had a gathering with friends at their house and that they were using the generator to light up their garage, but he placed it inside the storage room so it won\u2019t get wet and be secured.<\/p>\n
While in the garage, they noticed the light in the garage was flickering so his friend went to check the generator in the storage room.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s friend came back and told him to get a flashlight because the generator was missing. They followed the extension cord that was pulled out from the storage room\u2019s front door and found the generator still running located three feet behind Mu\u00f1a\u2019s car trunk.<\/p>\n
The victim said Mu\u00f1a was standing next to the generator.<\/p>\n
