{"id":210111,"date":"2015-09-10T04:00:10","date_gmt":"2015-09-09T18:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=210111"},"modified":"2015-09-10T04:00:10","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T18:00:10","slug":"210111","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/210111\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Briefs \u2014 Sept. 10, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>High surf advisory<\/strong><br \/>\nBased on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center, a northeast swell from distant Typhoon Kilo will continue to produce hazardous surf along north and east facing reefs into Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A high surf advisory in effect until 6pm today. Hazardous surf of 8 to 12 feet is expected along north and east facing reefs. Surf will slowly subside and is expected to fall below hazardous levels this evening.<\/p>\n<p>The public is being advised to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those facing north and east as rip currents will be life threatening. <em><strong>(HSEM)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Military training at Warning Area 517, FDM<\/strong><br \/>\nThe U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following dates and times:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sept. 10, from 9am to 4pm<br \/>\n\u2022 Sept. 11-12, from 10am to 5pm<\/p>\n<p>Training will also be conducted at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times:<br \/>\n\u2022 Sept. 10, from 8am to 9pm<br \/>\n\u2022 Sept. 11, from 9am to 12:30pm<br \/>\n\u2022 Sept. 12, from 10am to 5pm<\/p>\n<p>The general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators are advised to stay clear of the areas during the dates and times indicated.<\/p>\n<p>W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u00bbN. All vessels are advised to remain clear of W-517 south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u201dN. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are open for public use. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. <em><strong>(Joint Region Marianas Public Affairs Office)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Oleai Elementary orientation dates<\/strong><br \/>\nOleai Elementary School would like to invite all incoming and continuing students with their parent and guardians for Orientation and Open House for the upcoming school year 2015-2016. Orientation will take place at the school cafeteria on the following dates for the following grade levels:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sept. 10, 2015 (Thursday): Kindergarten to 2nd Grade from 4pm to 5pm.<br \/>\n\u2022 Sept. 11, 2015 (Friday): 3rd to 5th Grade from 4pm to 5pm<\/p>\n<p>Important information will be discussed during orientation.
