Gov. Eloy S. Inos has assigned the Office of the Lieutenant Governor to be the primary agency in coordinating governmental support and assistance to CNMI C.A.R.E.: Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts.<\/p>\n
The recently formed group is an independent organization composed of a diverse array of non-government organizations, faith-based groups, and non-profit foundations from around the community and has been meeting weekly to implement a strategic plan for long-term recovery and multi-hazard mitigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI see great potential in the recently formed CNMI C.A.R.E. organization who have come together to combine the unique strengths and momentum of the various community organizations to rebuilding our island. It is the faith I have in this organization and in you that I ask that your office be the key agency tasked with coordinating government support and assistance to CNMI C.A.R.E.,\u201d Inos said in his Sept. 10 memorandum to Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres.<\/p>\n
CNMI C.A.R.E.\u2019s mission is to \u201cbuild a resilient community and to identify, facilitate, and deliver resources and long-term support to address the unmet needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster.\u201d<\/p>\n
Torres welcomed the opportunity to assist in the efforts of CNMI C.A.R.E. \u201cI have seen a lot of progress being made in the delivery of critical relief supplies through the multi-agency collaboration possible through C.A.R.E. As we progress to the more intensive and complex long-term rebuilding of Saipan, the collaboration and community spirit that C.A.R.E. represents and fosters is absolutely crucial.\u201d<\/p>\n
Torres said he is glad that the organization is and remains community-led and will be available to support and assist when asked. \u201cMy office is available for the needs of the organization,\u201d he said. \u201cThey have tremendous momentum and there are many ways we build upon each other\u2019s successes to rebuild and improve our island.\u201d<\/p>\n
