{"id":210669,"date":"2015-09-18T06:06:15","date_gmt":"2015-09-17T20:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=210669"},"modified":"2015-09-18T06:06:15","modified_gmt":"2015-09-17T20:06:15","slug":"pcg-working-to-bring-owwa-rep-for-mobile-mission-to-nmi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/pcg-working-to-bring-owwa-rep-for-mobile-mission-to-nmi\/","title":{"rendered":"PCG working to bring OWWA  rep for mobile mission to NMI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A representative of the Philippines\u2019 Overseas Workers Welfare Administration may be able to join the Philippine Consulate General\u2019s mobile mission to the Commonwealth next week.<\/p>\n<p>OWWA administrator Rebecca Calzado will be sending a representative, in the person of former welfare officer to PCG Saipan Rey Tayag, to join the PCG\u2019s consular mission on Saipan and Tinian on Sept. 22-28.<\/p>\n<p>The OWWA administration is now in the process of preparing Tayag\u2019s pre-deployment requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing our best that they arrive on time for the mobile consular mission. Hopefully they will,\u201d Philippine honorary consul Glicerio Arago said.<\/p>\n<p>Arago said the arrival of an OWWA representative will be a big help for the Filipino community on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippine Consulate General in Guam also recommended to OWWA that the representative make a stopover on Rota to be able to assist the Filipino community there.<\/p>\n<p>OWWA\u00a0is an agency of the Philippine government that protects and promotes the welfare of overseas Filipino workers and their dependents.\u00a0 By being a member of OWWA, an overseas Filipino worker becomes entitled to various benefits and services, such as death benefits, disability and dismemberment benefit, and burial benefit. It also provides educational assistance, among other programs.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements for OWWA application are the following: CW-1 copy, passport copy, and a $25 fee.<\/p>\n<p>The consular mission on Saipan will be on Sept. 23 to 25 and on Sept. 26 to 27 on Tinian.
