Villanueva)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Lions Club International donated boxes of tissue rolls to two schools last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Hopwood Junior High School received 320 rolls of tissue paper while Marianas High School received 400 rolls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just one of our community projects,\u201d District 204 Region 2 chair Ladyvir Canape said.<\/p>\n<p>Canape said they wanted to help with maintaining hygiene, especially among students, in the wake of Typhoon Soudelor.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_210912\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-210912\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/lions-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-210912\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/lions-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Members of the Lions Club International turn over boxes of tissue rolls to Marianas High School principal Cherlyn Cabrera, front row center, and MHS students on Friday. Villanueva)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Members of the Saipan Marianas Lions Club and the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club delivered the boxes to the schools.<\/p>\n<p>MHS principal Cherlyn Cabrera thanked the Lions for the donation and noted that after the typhoon, their students became mindful of using tissue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very big help for the students because with running a school we\u2019re also in charge of providing all kinds of supplies and consumables like toilet tissue,\u201d Cabrera said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is something you need every day. You don\u2019t think about it but we\u2019re just very grateful for their donation since we have such a huge population,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Almost 1,600 students are enrolled in MHS this year.<\/p>\n<p>Canape said that they chose MHS and Hopwood as these are potential sources of members for their upcoming Leo Club. She said they are already in the process of organizing a Leo Club that will be named the Saipan Marianas Alpha Leo Club. They seek to attract more than 20 youth members.<\/p>\n<p>The Leo Club will be for youths who are 12 to 16 years of age. It aims to engage the youth and the next generation of Lions that are willing to serve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we have more funds we can give to other schools also,\u201d Canape said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lions Club International donated boxes of tissue rolls to two schools last Friday.
