{"id":211365,"date":"2015-09-29T06:06:40","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T20:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=211365"},"modified":"2015-09-29T06:06:40","modified_gmt":"2015-09-28T20:06:40","slug":"feeder-7-is-hot-one-feeder-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/feeder-7-is-hot-one-feeder-to-go\/","title":{"rendered":"Feeder 7 is hot, one feeder to go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Feeder 7\u2014the main power lines running from the local power plant up north beyond As Matuis\u2014has been reenergized over the weekend, acting Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director John Riegel told Saipan Tribune yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>That means only one feeder, Kiya 4, remains to be powered up. That feeder comes off the Chalan Kiya substation and energizes the lines southward to the intersection of the Chalan Kanoa post office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeeder 7 is energized,\u201d Riegel said over the phone yesterday. \u201cKiya 4 is hot down to Ada Gym.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that CUC has taken offline all the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers generators supplied by the federal government to power water wells.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is progress,\u201d Riegel said. CUC still has an Army Corps generator at one of their lift stations.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of water generation, Riegel said CUC is at about 80 percent. \u201c\u2026By the end of the week, we are hoping to get to 90 percent capacity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Riegel said a little over 200 power poles\u2014both new wooden poles and used concrete poles\u2014arrived and were offloaded last Saturday, as CUC continues purchasing critical utility supplies to bring the grid back to full capacity after Typhoon Soudelor left the CNMI in a state of disaster.<\/p>\n<p>Riegel said they have ordered 600 transformers to aid in recovery, and another 200 reconditioned transformers on top of this.
