After a two-year hiatus, Docomo Pacific brought back the Kids4kids Carnival to the CNMI on Monday and yesterday, bringing with them Spongebob from Spongebob Squarepants, Diego from Go Diego Go, and Millie and Geo from Team Umizoomi, much to the delight of hundreds of children who trooped to the Royal Taga Hall of Saipan World Resort to see their favorite Nickelodeon characters.<\/p>\n
Children of all ages, along with their parents and guardians, were treated to an hour of entertainment and games, as well as food and other fun stuff. Each kid also got to bring home a balloon-shaped Spongebob or Dora the Explorer.<\/p>\n
\u201cTheir excitement is very pure, the energy. There\u2019s nothing better than seeing a smiling child,\u201d said Thomas Higa, Docomo Pacific\u2019s chief commercial officer.<\/p>\n
A total of about 2,400 people enjoyed the four shows during the two-day event. The usual ticket price is $7 but Docomo slashed the price on Saipan to just $3.50.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaipan is special today,\u201d Higa said. \u201cBecause of the devastation here, we cut the ticket price in half\u2026to help the families here because times are hard right now. The last thing we want them to worry about is a $7 price.\u201d<\/p>\n
Higa said that Docomo has always been about the community, especially the kids. Through their Kids4kids events, they are able to help more children.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s for the benefit of children, children events to help the children. We use the money to do all the children\u2019s events,\u201d Higa said.<\/p>\n
Part of the money from this event as well as their upcoming golf tournament may be used to help the local hospital\u2019s pediatric ward, to set up television sets with cable connection to entertain kids.<\/p>\n
Higa said they also are thinking of bringing their Christmas event for kids in Guam to Saipan.<\/p>\n
\u201cI definitely want to do the \u2018Movies with Santa\u2019 here. It will be the first time; we\u2019ve done it three years successfully in Guam. I think it\u2019s something that the kids here will appreciate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
