{"id":211571,"date":"2015-10-01T06:06:16","date_gmt":"2015-09-30T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=211571"},"modified":"2015-10-01T06:06:16","modified_gmt":"2015-09-30T20:06:16","slug":"las-vegas-night-moved-to-january","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/las-vegas-night-moved-to-january\/","title":{"rendered":"Las Vegas Night moved to January"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rotary Club of Saipan\u2019s signature event, Las Vegas Night, will not happen on Halloween night this year.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rotary Club president Curtis Dancoe, they pushed back the date for their fundraising event from Oct. 31 to Jan. 9 next year in order to be able to sell more tickets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would\u2019ve been fine but 30 days is just not enough,\u201d Dancoe said. \u201cI\u2019ve done promotions, it\u2019s at least 90 days to do promotions successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event will still be held at the Saipan World Resort.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the Rotary intended to use the proceeds to buy school supplies for students as part of Typhoon Soudelor recovery but Dancoe said they now have other resources to do that. Dancoe said they received $5,000 from various donors as well as $25,000 from the Rotary Club District 2750.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can use that for the school supplies and we have some stuff coming in from Guam,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Rotary Club is expecting a 20-foot container from Guam filled with school supplies.<\/p>\n<p>Dancoe said they will be giving school supplies to public middle schools.
