Brotherhood swept Mommy Charu in the playoff round to march to the finals of the Belau Men\u2019s Slow-pitch Softball League yesterday at the Dandan ball field.<\/p>\n

Brotherhood scored a 12-2 win in Game 1 then followed that up with an easy 9-1 decision in the next game to clinch the first finals berth.<\/p>\n

They will face the winner of the SA Masters-IP&E match, which was still being played at press time, in next Sunday\u2019s title game.<\/p>\n

IP&E defeated SA Masters, 9-4, in the opener and another win would put them in a championship showdown with Brotherhood. A loss by IP&E would mean a deciding match on Oct. 11.<\/p>\n

IP&E rallied in the fifth inning where they scored eight runs to erase a 4-1 deficit and secure victory.<\/p>\n

Brotherhood, in the first game, used a pair of four-run innings in the third and fourth for the shortened match via the 10-run mercy rule. They had 19 hits.<\/p>\n

Jeff Diaz led Brotherhood\u2019s hit parade going 3-for-3 with three singles and two runs, while Al Camacho also went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI. Ken Kapileo had two doubles, two RBIs, and scored a run on a 2-for-3 batting.<\/p>\n

Juan Diaz also had an excellent performance on the mound for Brotherhood despite being tagged by two earned runs as he limited Mommy Charu to five hits.<\/p>\n

He forced opposing batters to either ground out or fly out that with the defense always there to get him out of trouble.<\/p>\n

It was almost the same story in Game 2 as Brotherhood\u2019s bats went to work early to pull away early and just played to protect their lead as they held Mommy Charu to a single run.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
