{"id":212282,"date":"2015-10-13T06:06:26","date_gmt":"2015-10-12T20:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=212282"},"modified":"2015-10-13T06:06:26","modified_gmt":"2015-10-12T20:06:26","slug":"delta-down-to-one-daily-flight-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/delta-down-to-one-daily-flight-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta down to one daily flight soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beyond Oct. 22, Dela Air Lines will be flying just one daily flight to the CNMI, down from its regular twice a day flight\u2014as announced earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Ryoko Matsumoto, of Delta\u2019s Corporate Communications, told Saipan Tribune yesterday that during the winter season\u2014beyond Oct. 22\u2014Delta will operate a single daily flight between Tokyo and Saipan that would leave Narita, Japan, at 10:25am and arrive at the Saipan International Airport at 3:05pm.<\/p>\n<p>Delta usually flies two flights, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince six B747-400s will be retired by the end of 2015, Delta\u2019s overall seat capacity on the resort markets will be reduced from the 2015 winter season. Delta will also reduce frequencies on the flights to Honolulu and Saipan during winter season due to continued yen devaluation and average fare decline with lower fuel surcharge,\u201d Delta said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The reduced flights were earlier announced in May.<\/p>\n<p>According to arrival statistics provided by the Marianas Visitors Authority, the year 2015 has seen a reduction in Japanese arrivals every month compared to the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>For August, MVA reported 6,991 Japanese arrivals compared to 12,362 during the same period last year. For July, this was at 5,624, compared to 6,307 the same time the previous year.
