{"id":212326,"date":"2015-10-14T06:04:34","date_gmt":"2015-10-13T20:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=212326"},"modified":"2015-10-14T06:04:34","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T20:04:34","slug":"laolao-bay-golf-resort-donates-10k-to-cnmi-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/laolao-bay-golf-resort-donates-10k-to-cnmi-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Laolao Bay Golf &#038; Resort donates $10K to CNMI CARE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Laolao Bay Golf &amp; Resort is the latest to donate to the long-term recovery group CNMI Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts.<\/p>\n<p>A $10,000 check was presented to CNMI CARE by Laolao Bay executives led by president Chang Ho Kim yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaolao Bay has always been helping the community in any way it can, especially now after Typhoon Soudelor. Villanueva)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The golf resort was able to raise the money through their \u201cPlay Golf for Typhoon Victims,\u201d pledging to donate $5 each from the green fees collected in September toward helping victims of Typhoon Soudelor. A green fee is what a golf course charges golfers to play.<\/p>\n<p>Laolao Bay Golf &amp; Resort was able to raise $10,000 from the green fees as well as donation jar collections through the support of its guests and organizations such as the Korean Golf Association.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s particularly\u2026heartfelt for me because I\u2019m part of the golfing community,\u201d CNMI CARE\u2019s Jenny Hegland said. \u201cThat\u2019s a very generous donation from a company that had a lot of damage. They did massive cleanup efforts and their staff did great efforts to clean it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the donation, Laolao Bay Golf &amp; Resort has also been reaching out to the community by providing potable and non-potable water, and even providing chainsaw services to the public. It also established a temporary shelter for some of its staff.<\/p>\n<p>The resort\u2019s management also released a schedule for free drinking water. Members of the public can line up at the driving range with their containers. The schedule is from Monday to Friday, from\u00a06:30am to 7:30am\u00a0and 3:30pm to 6:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday from\u00a09am to 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>Laolao Bay\u2019s Tony Satur said a fundraising golf tournament is in the works where proceeds will also go to victims of Typhoon Soudelor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been working with Tony and Mr. Kim since I got to the island.
