{"id":212353,"date":"2015-10-14T06:06:05","date_gmt":"2015-10-13T20:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=212353"},"modified":"2015-10-14T06:06:05","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T20:06:05","slug":"application-for-unemployment-assistance-to-end-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/application-for-unemployment-assistance-to-end-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Application for unemployment assistance to end next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This coming Monday, Oct. 19, will be the last day to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndividuals\u00a0who\u00a0worked\u00a0on the island of Saipan\u00a0at the time of the disaster and are totally, part-totally, or partially unemployed as a direct result of the disaster may apply for DUA,\u201d Labor Secretary Edith DeLeon Guerrero told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>However, CW-1 workers and Freely Associated States citizens are not eligible for DUA due to their immigration status.<\/p>\n<p>DUA, which is in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is also under the Stafford Act and is available to U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, and qualified aliens who lost their jobs and self-employed individuals who have been unable to work due to damage sustained from Typhoon Soudelor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DeLeon Guerrero said DUA has a weekly eligibility for 27 weeks for those who needs assistance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis, however, does not mean that all 27 weeks is payable. The Weekly Request for Assistance form or ETA 83 is required to be filed if still requesting for DUA,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Under the program, the Weekly Assistance Amount is $307.
